Official Competition Rules

In order to compete, you must meet the following requirements at time of registration:


1.        GENERAL CONDITIONS

These are the Official Rules of the 3rd competition for instructors in the CEE and CIS regions,
iCompetition 2010 (Contest).

In these Official Rules (i) "Organizer," "we," "our," and "us" means RCNA at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia, the organizer of this Contest; (ii) "Sponsor" means each company and organization referenced in the "Sponsor" section of the Contest web site that supports and contributes to the organization of this Contest; and (iii) "You," and "yourself" means an eligible Contest entrant.

If you meet the eligibility criteria stated below, but are considered a minor in your place of residence, then you should ask your parent’s or legal guardian’s permission prior to submitting an entry.

By entering this Contest, you are agreeing (i) that you will abide by the Official Rules written and referenced below; (ii) that this Contest is governed by the laws of Slovak Republic, and that you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts of Slovak Republic, for any disputes arising out of this Contest, and (iii) that the organizer’s Privacy Policy will apply to this Contest and to all information that we receive from you, including your entry and supporting materials, and that by accepting the Official Rules and submitting an entry, you are also accepting the terms of the Privacy Policy. Please read the Privacy Policy on the Contest entry page before accepting the Official Rules and submitting an entry. The organizer reserves the right to modify these rules at any time.

If you do not agree to abide by these Official Rules, please do not enter this Contest.

2.        CONTEST DESCRIPTION

The 3rd competition for instructors in CEE and CIS regions, iCompetition 2010,
is a contest designed to recognize the top instructors in the region,
who can prove their excellence in both knowledge and teaching skills.

The competition is open to instructors in Central and Eastern Europe and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It is divided into two rounds: The online qualifications and the Final round.

The competition is governed by these Official Rules. If there are any inconsistencies between the Official Rules, and the Competition Details, these Official Rules will govern.

3.        ENTRY DEADLINES AND COMPETITION AGENDA

Registration
Registration is opened until April 13, 2010 at 13h00 CEST.

Competition Agenda

·   Round 1: Online qualifications:

1)   31.03.2010            (16h00 CEST)

2)   08.04.2010            (09h00 CEST)

3)   13.04.2010            (14h00 CEST)

·   Round 2: Top 10 instructors of Round 1 will be invited to Slovakia for a two-day Final round.

4.        ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Unless otherwise indicated in the Competition Details, you are eligible to enter the Contest if you meet the following requirements at time of registration:

·       You are an Instructor at one of the Cisco certified Networking Academies; and

·       You are not an employee at Cisco Systems, Inc.; and

·       You are not involved in any part of execution or administration of this Contest; and

·       You are not an immediate family member of (parent, sibling, spouse, child) or household of a Cisco Systems, Inc. employee.


If you are involved in any part of execution or administration of this Contest, you are eligible to participate only in Round 1. Your score will not be officially published and you will not be able to qualify for the final round.

5.        ELIGIBILITY STATUS VERIFICATION

If you qualify for the second round of the Contest, your instructor Academy Connection ID will be verified. Remember that you can qualify for the second Round only if you a citizen of one of the countries listed in the list of Eligible Countries.

If you are not a citizen of one of the countries listed in the Eligible Countries list, you can participate in the Contest, but you cannot qualify for the second round, your score will not be officially published and you will not be able to qualify for the final round.

6.        PRIZE CONDITIONS

If you are selected as a potential winner:

·       You may not exchange prizes for their value in money.

·       You may not designate someone else as the winner. If you are unable or unwilling to accept your prize, we may award it to the next highest scoring Team / entrant.

·       If you accept a prize, you will be solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to accepting the prize, as permitted.

·       If you meet the eligibility criteria for the Contest, but you are a minor in your place of residence, then we may award the prize to your parent/legal guardian on your behalf.

·       Unless otherwise mentioned, all prizes are subject to their manufacturer's warranty and/or terms and conditions.

·       We are not responsible for any dispute arising regarding the prize dispersal.

7.        NOTIFICATIONS

If you are selected to advance to the final Round, we may notify you by sending a message to the e-mail address, phone number, or mailing address (if any) you provided at time of registration within the timelines designated in the Competition Details.

If we require that you affirmatively accept an invitation to compete in a subsequent round of any Competition, and the notification that we send is returned as undeliverable for any reason, or you are otherwise unreachable for any reason, we may disqualify you and extend an invitation to the next highest scoring participant.

If there is a dispute as to the identity of a particular entrant, we will consider the entrant to be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used register for the Contest.

If you are a winner and you meet the eligibility criteria for the Invitational, but you are a minor in your place of residence, then we may require your parent or legal guardian to sign all required forms on your behalf. If you do not complete the required forms as instructed and/or return the required forms within the time period listed on the winner notification message, we may disqualify you and select the next highest scoring participant.

8.        WINNERS LIST

Winners will be announced within 48 hours following each online qualification. The winners list will be published on the competition website and on the inetacad.net portal. List of Top 30 competitors and the list of 10 competitors qualified for the second round will be published after each online qualification of Round 1. The individual scores will be private for each participant and will not be shared among the competitors.

The winners list published at the competition web page will consist of following information: name, surname, name of the academy, country.

After the 3rd Online qualification was finished, the official winners list will be published on the competition website within 48 hours.

In case of same score for Top 10, the score with the best time for the Technical Quiz will be considered better.

9.        PRIZE OBLIGATIONS

By accepting a prize you agree to participate in promotional events and activities that may include, but are not limited to, showcases of your entry on-stage at industry events, and allow us and the Sponsors to use your name, trademarks, image, comments and/or company logos on presentation slides and other marketing materials promoting the Contest.

You agree to assist us and the Sponsors in the creation of case studies or white papers (together "Studies") detailing your entry (entries). Studies will not include any participant confidential information. Upon your approval of the Studies’ accuracy, you agree to give us and the Sponsors permission to display the Studies including trademarks, logos and other identifying information contained therein, on our and the Sponsors’ web sites and in other documentation. This documentation may take various forms, including printed materials, on-line articles, video, audio, and other digital recordings.

10.     HOW WILL MY ENTRY POTENTIALLY BE USED?

Other than what is set forth below, we are not claiming any ownership rights to your entry. However, by submitting your entry, you:

·       are granting us an irrevocable, worldwide right and license to: (i) use, review, assess, test and otherwise analyze your entry and all its content in connection with this Contest; and (ii) feature your entry and all its content in connection with the promotion of this Contest in all media (now known or later developed);

·       agree to sign any necessary documentation that may be required for us and our designees to make use of the rights you granted above;

·       understand and acknowledge that we, other Sponsors and other entrants may have developed or commissioned materials similar or identical to your submission and you waive any claims you may have resulting from any similarities to your entry;

·       understand that we cannot control the incoming information you will disclose to our representatives in the course of entering, or what our representatives will remember about your entry. You also understand that we will not restrict work assignments of representatives who have had access to your entry. By entering this Contest, you agree that use of information in our representatives’ unaided memories in the development or deployment of our products or services does not create liability for us under this agreement or copyright or trade secret law;

·       understand that you will not receive any compensation or credit for use of your entry, other than what is described in these Official Rules.

Please note that following the end of this Contest your entry may be posted on a website selected by us for viewing by visitors to that website. We are not responsible for any unauthorized use of your entry by visitors to this website. While we reserve these rights, we are not obligated to use your entry for any purpose, even if it has been selected as a winning entry.

If you do not want to grant us these rights to your entry,
please do not enter this Contest.

11.     LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

By entering this Contest you agree:

·       To abide by the Official Rules; and

·       To the extent allowable under applicable law, to release and hold us and our Sponsors, and our respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Contest or any prize won; and

·       That our decisions will be final and binding on all matters related to this Contest; and

·       That, by accepting a prize, we may use of your proper name and state of residence online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this Contest, without payment or compensation to you, except where prohibited by law.

This Contest will be governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts of Slovak Republic for any disputes arising out of this Contest.

12.     WHAT IF SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS AND THE CONTEST CAN'T RUN AS IT WAS PLANNED?

If someone cheats, or a virus, bug, catastrophic event, or any other unforeseen or unexpected event that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled, (also referred to as force majeure) affects the fairness and/or integrity of this Contest, we reserve the right to cancel, change or suspend the Contest online qualification. This right is reserved whether the event is due to human or technical error. If the problem persists after 30 minutes, then you should wait for instructions.

If a solution cannot be found to restore the integrity of the Contest, we reserve the right to select winners from among all eligible entries received before we had to cancel, change or suspend the Contest.

If a solution can be found, we will use the portal forums and e-mail to inform you when the online qualification reopens and other necessary information.

If you attempt to compromise the integrity or the legitimate operation of this Contest by hacking or by cheating or committing fraud in ANY way, we may seek damages from you to the fullest extent permitted by law. Further, we may ban you from participating in any of our future Contest, so please play fairly.

13.     ORGANIZER

The Organizer of this event is the RCNA at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Technical University of Kosice, Letna 9, 040 01 Kosice, Slovakia.
